Ella was born with the genetic disease cystic fibrosis, she has been hospitalized with infections ever since she was little and says she “will continue to advocate until antimicrobial resistance is no longer the greatest threat to my life”. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) occurs when bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites no longer respond to antimicrobial medicines, like antibiotics.
Courtesy to The World Health Organization’s ‘AMR is invisible, I am not’ campaign, which puts advocates—like Ella from the WHO Task Force of AMR survivors —front and center, to share their stories, raise awareness and urge action to address AMR.
